The department of Arequipa is one of various terrains. It begins in the coastal desert and then climbs the Andes, reaching great altitude at the snow covered peaks and at its volcanoes.
Arequipa, known as the White City for its beautiful white walls of sillar, a volcanic stone, lies at the feet of the mighty volcanos of Mount Chachani, Mount Misti, and the snow covered peak of Mount Pichu Pichu.
Transfer from Arequipa airport/ bus station to Casa de mi Abuela Hotel, free morning. Afternoon will have Arequipa city tour. The city tour starts at 14.00. It includes a tourist bus, a bilingual guide, the Santa Catalina Monastery, Yanahuara district where you can take excellent pictures of the Misti Volcano, and return to the hotel. The tour is around 4 hours long.
Overnight at Casa de mi Abuela Hotel
After breakfast, transfer from the hostel at about 08:00 in the morning. Passengers will be picked up by the guide and a tourist bus will take them to the Chivay town located in the Colca Valley. Leaving behind Arequipa we drive along the El Misti and Chachani volcanoes. Later, on the plains of the Andes altiplano we will be able to observe South American camelids and a wide variety of birds. Along this scenic way we also see different snow covered peaks over 6000 meters including the famous volcano Ampato and we will drive over a pass almost 4800 m. a. s. l. Arrival to Chivay and we will have our lunch then we return to the hotel. In the afternoon you can enjoy the hot spring la Calera (38º C of temperature) it´s optional.
Overnight at Pozo del Cielo Hotel
Wake up early morning (05:00am) take a breakfast and leave the hostel to go to cross of the condor, beautiful place that we can appreciate and observe the magnific flight of condors and sightseeing deep of the Colca canyon, will be an hour and a half approximately. To return we can visit to beautiful typical towns, like Yanque & Maca, colonial churches, gently people with typical needlework dresses, hundreds of pre-Inca terraces which are still in use with andean growings like corn, quinua and kiwicha.
Arrival to Chivay we can take our lunch and we will travel back to Arequipa. Finally we will arrive in Arequipa at about 17:30 and transfer to Casa de la Abuela hotel.
Overnight at Casa de la Abuela hotel
After breakfast, transfer to the bus station / airport.
